Course Overview

AIMS:

To equip engine room watchkeepers and team members with essential leadership, teamwork, and human factor management skills in accordance with the STCW 2010 Code, enabling them to perform efficiently and safely in a high-pressure maritime environment through enhanced communication, planning, and decision-making abilities.

OBJECTIVES:

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate Effective Team Management Skills
     Utilize simulation-based scenarios to practice leadership, cooperation, and efficient task coordination within the engine room.
  2. Optimize Human and Machinery Resources
     Apply best practices to enhance the performance of both technical systems and the human workforce for operational excellence.
  3. Understand and Apply Human Factors Principles
     Identify and manage human limitations, behaviours, and error chains to prevent accidents and improve safety culture.
  4. Promote a Positive Change in Attitude and Leadership Style
     Develop a proactive mindset focused on accountability, openness, and continuous improvement in managerial approach.
  5. Enhance Emergency Preparedness and Adaptability
     Strengthen the ability to respond effectively to emergencies, stress, and unexpected operational changes through contingency planning and dynamic decision-making.
