 AIMS:

This course equips ratings with the essential theoretical knowledge and practical competencies necessary to operate safely and efficiently aboard Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) tankers. It familiarises participants with LNG cargo operations, potential hazards, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures, in alignment with international maritime best practices.

OBJECTIVES:

• Identify the typical layout and components of LNG tanker cargo systems, including tanks, pipelines, valves, and safety systems.
• Recognise and follow standard safety procedures used during loading, discharging, cooling down, and inerting operations on LNG carriers.
• Identify potential health, fire, and explosion hazards associated with LNG and apply appropriate personal safety measures.
• Apply knowledge of gas detection systems, protective equipment, and firefighting procedures specific to LNG tankers.
