Course Overview

This course equips seafarers with the essential knowledge and skills for effective Passenger Ship (Crowd & Crisis Management and Human Behaviour during emergencies), in accordance with IMO Model Courses 1.28 and 1.29. It prepares crew members to respond confidently and efficiently in high-stress passenger ship scenarios.

AIMS:

This course aims to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge to effectively manage crises and ensure the safety of passengers, cargo, and the vessel's hull integrity. The course will cover crisis management, emergency procedures, and human behaviour in emergencies, as well as specific training on passenger safety, cargo safety, and hull integrity and align with IMO Model 1.29

OBJECTIVES:

    • Understand and apply crisis management principles in emergencies.
    • Organise and implement shipboard emergency procedures effectively.
    • Optimise resource use during emergencies.
    • Control responses to emergencies and manage personnel and passengers.
    • Ensure safe embarkation and disembarkation procedures.
    • Handle the carriage and securing of dangerous goods.
    • Calculate stability, trim, and stress, and manage hull integrity.
    • Communicate effectively during crises.

  7. Carriage of Dangerous Goods
  8. Securing Cargoes
  9. Stability, Trim, and Stress Calculations
  10. Opening, Closing, and Securing Hull Openings
  11. Ro-Ro Deck Atmosphere
  12. Ship Design, Layout, Emergency Plans, Procedures, and Drills
  13. Optimisation of Resources
  14. Human Behaviour and Responses
  15. Establish and Maintain Effective Communications
