AIMS:
This course develops the knowledge, skills, and competence required to perform the duties of a Ship Safety Officer. Based on IMO Model Course 3.11 and the Code of Safe Working Practices for Merchant Seafarers (CoSWP), it equips participants to identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, investigate accidents, promote safety awareness, and support compliance with international maritime safety standards and company Safety Management Systems.
OBJECTIVES:
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of a Ship Safety Officer.
- Identify hazards and apply effective risk assessment techniques.
- Conduct safety inspections and investigate accidents and incidents.
- Promote safe working practices and safety awareness onboard.
- Maintain safety records and support emergency preparedness.
- Contribute to the effective implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS).
